Privacy Policy

Mangobacks is a browser extension that shows a small, clearly-labeled ad banner at the top of the web pages you visit and credits you anonymous earnings for the ads shown and clicked. The Mangobacks website (mangobacks.com) is where you can optionally sign in to manage your earnings and, in the future, cash out. This policy covers both the extension and the website.

Used on every site, the extension collects only:

• A randomly generated, anonymous device identifier (a UUID created on your device) — it is not your name, email, or Google identity.
• Ad impression and click events tied to that anonymous identifier.

This is the minimum required to credit your earnings and prevent fraud. The extension does not collect your name, email, browsing history, or the URLs or content of the pages you visit.

If you join the waitlist, we collect the email address you enter (held by our authentication provider, Clerk) so we can notify you when access opens. Signing in is otherwise optional. You can earn anonymously without an account. If you do create an account or sign in on mangobacks.com to claim or cash out earnings, we collect:

• Your email address and name, through our authentication provider (Clerk), so we can identify your account and send payout-related notifications.
• A link between your anonymous device identifier and your account, so your earnings attach to you.
• Payout details (collected by our payment processor, Stripe) if and when you set up cash-out.

We do not collect the content of the pages you browse, your browsing history, the URLs you visit, your searches, your keystrokes, your passwords, or your location. The extension reads only a page's hostname, locally, to skip a few system pages and to bridge your anonymous device ID into your mangobacks.com session — it never transmits that hostname to us.

Data is sent over HTTPS to our backend hosted on Microsoft Azure (United States). We use a small number of service providers (processors) to run Mangobacks:

• Microsoft Azure (United States) — backend hosting and data storage.
• Clerk — account authentication and identity.
• Stripe — payouts (only if you set up cash-out).
• PostHog (United States) — product analytics, used to understand how features are used and to catch reliability issues, and never receives the content, URLs, or history of the pages you browse. The browser extension sends only anonymous product events (for example, that it was installed or that the popup was opened), keyed to a random analytics identifier that is separate from your earnings device ID and is never linked to your name, email, or page activity. On the website, analytics run only after you consent and session replay masks personal information; on the mobile app, session replay is turned off.

We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertising networks for interest-based or retargeted advertising. The ads you see are not personalized based on your browsing behavior. Aggregate, anonymized impression counts are used to bill advertisers.

Before you sign in and claim earnings, your device identifier is anonymous and is not linked to your identity. Once you sign in and claim earnings on mangobacks.com, your device is linked to your account — from that point, uninstalling the extension does not by itself remove that link. To disassociate a linked device and remove your identity, delete your account (below).

Anonymous device data persists until you uninstall the extension or clear its storage. Account data (email, linked devices) persists until you delete your account via Account → Settings → Delete account, or by emailing us. When you delete your account we remove your identity and linked-device data; we retain earnings and withdrawal records in anonymized form where we are required to for tax and accounting purposes (a legal obligation), with no link back to you.

You can request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal data, and you may object to or restrict certain processing. EU/UK users also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise any of these, use Account → Settings → Delete account or email gle3@uic.edu.

Mangobacks' use of information received from Google APIs, and any user data obtained through the Chrome extension, adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
